All buildings require a Sylvan Shores and Todd County permit including additions to houses. Refer to the Sylvan Shores Covenants, Article VI ‘Architectural Control’ and VII regarding ‘Building and Use Limitations’ or contact (Todd County Planning/Zoning Office, Courthouse, Long Prairie, MN 56347. Phone # 320-732-4420) A building permit, from Sylvan Shores, is needed before construction is to begin on any project. No trailer, mobile home or similar type structure, basement, tent, shack, garage, barn or other outbuilding shall at any time be used as a residence, temporarily or permanently, nor shall any structure of a temporary character or any building in the process of construction, be used as a residence. Garages are not allowed on vacant lots. Refer to Sylvan Shores Covenants article VII. Driveway permits can be obtained through the appropriate township. Driveways must meet state standards. Septic and well design and must be approved by Todd County before building can begin. Once a permit has been issued it is valid for a year. All building's being constructed must be 100% finished on the outside within one year from the start of construction.
